Seng GeeLim

Dr Lim is Associate Professor of Medicine and Consultant Hepatologist at the National University Hospital (NUH).

Dr Lim graduated in 1980 from Monash Medical School, Australia. He then trained at the Alfred Hospital, where he was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. From 1989 to 1993, he was a Clinical Research Fellow at the Royal Free Hospital, London. He was subsequently at the Chelsea and Westminister Hospital, investigating the relationship between entreric infection and mucosal immune cells in HIV, where he completed his MD. He came to Singapore in 1994 and was initially working at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, joining the National University Hospital in 1995.

Dr Lim is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and a member of the American, British, Australian and Singaporean gastroenterological societies, amongst many other professional societies and organizations.

He is currently the head of the Division of Gastroenterology at NUH, associate staff of IMCB, and coordinator of the Liver Research group. He is also chairman of the Evidence Based Medicine Subcommittee at NUH, and chairman of the Asia Pacific Evidence Based Medicine Workshop. He is serving on the Editorial Boards of Liver International, GastroHep.com and Medscape.

Dr Lim has an academic career path with current research interests in molecular biology and immunology of hepatitis. He runs an active laboratory investigating hepatitis B lifecycle events. He has interests in Hepatitis B natural history, clinical outcomes and quality of life issues. He is currently the principal investigator in multiple clinical trials (11) of new hepatitis B treatments. He has participated in GCP programs and is a GCP instructor. He has also published numerous papers in international journals, and has been invited to speak at various meetings worldwide.
