Panniculitis and pancreatic disease.
This middle-aged woman developed a rash on the legs which was thought to be a panniculitis related to acute pancreatititis. The lesion has been biopsied to confirm the diagnosis.
Pancreatic panniculitis is a rare disease and may occur with
pancreatitis or carcinoma of the pancreas. In one study, the
panniculitis preceded the clinical diagnosis of pancreatic disease by
about 13 weeks.
